The Cure, one of the most iconic bands of all time, embarks on their Shows of a Lost World Tour this month. Luckily, they’re bringing their incredible live show to The Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, on May 31.
This is a rare opportunity to see the band live in concert, and fans can expect to hear all of their biggest hits and some of the lesser-known tracks that will take them on a journey through The Cure’s incredible career. The band is known for its dynamic live performances, and their shows are always a sight to behold.
The Cure has been active since the late 1970s and has released numerous iconic albums throughout their career, including Disintegration, The Head on the Door, and Wish. Their unique blend of post-punk, new wave, and gothic rock has influenced countless musicians and helped to shape alternative music for decades.
The Cure on Tour
Joining them as support for all dates are longtime tourmates, the Twilight Sad. The Cure has been teasing a new album for some time now. Their latest dropped back in 2008. However, this hasn’t stopped them from collaborating with other artists like Gorillaz, CHVRCHES, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Recently, the band faced criticism regarding Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan sale of tickets to their upcoming tour. In March, Robert Smith, lead singer of The Cure, spoke out against the high fees that Ticketmaster charged fans. After further conversations, Ticketmaster agreed to offer refunds.
Despite this, The Cure is excited to perform for their fans and use Ticketmaster’s “Verified Fan” system to combat scalping and get more face-value tickets in fans’ hands. They refused to participate in the company’s dynamic pricing and Platinum tickets, which they deemed “a greedy scam.”
