From legendary rock icons to groundbreaking jam bands, the lineup for this summer’s concerts is nothing short of spectacular. Here are five summer concerts that have us counting down the days, as we eagerly await the musical magic that awaits us.

String Cheese Incident

string cheese - summer concerts guide

Known for their unwavering commitment to musical creativity, integrity, and community spirit, The String Cheese Incident will take the stage at the esteemed Hayden Homes Amphitheater on July 27. With their groundbreaking fusion of bluegrass, rock, funk, and electronic elements, their live shows push the boundaries of musical exploration. Their summer tour includes stops at the Cuthbert Amphitheater, McMenamin’s Edgefield, and Hayden Homes. But we recommend a good river float along the Deschutes to accompany these jam band legends.

Nearly five years after their debut EP, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker announced their first boygenius full-length, The Record, in January. The album was a smash, with singles like “$20,” “True Blue,” “Emily I’m Sorry,” and “Not Strong Enough.” The indie rock supergroup is currently on tour supporting the debut and will stop at Hayden Homes on Sunday, July 30.

Tash Sultana

Tash Sultana has become a global sensation. The Australian singer and multi-instrumentalist has risen to explosive levels since their debut album Flow State was released in 2018. Earlier this year, Tash Sultana released two singles, “James Dean” and “New York.” For their 2023 summer tour, they’ll be taking the stage at the Cuthbert Amphitheater in Eugene.

Paramore

Paramore is back in action. The crowd-favorite, pop-punk band has had a strong resurgence lately. And now, they’re embarking on a massive arena tour across North America. The “Paramore in North America” tour runs through the summer of 2023 with a Portland stop in early July. Opening artists include Bloc Party, Foals, The Linda Lindas, and Genesis Owusu. Additionally, a portion of ticket sales for all North American shows will be donated to Support + Feed and Reverb.

Cigarettes After Sex

After last year’s headlining performance at The Crystal Ballroom sold out, Cigarettes After Sex decided to come back, this time joining the outdoor summer concerts schedule. The music invokes not only the powerful feelings of euphoria, but somehow recreates emotions found only in the most romantic of movies; immersive, achingly nostalgic, and intensely visual. The band’s show at McMenamin’s Edgefield is already sold out, but get your hands on a resale ticket if possible.
