The team behind The North Warehouse has always been a team of visionaries. They’re leading the pack in local dance music venues, from their masterful stereo setup to their comprehensive harm-reduction program. Now, the PDX-based venue is expanding. Described as “a smaller, boiler room-style venue,” The North Warehouse just unveiled the East Annex this past weekend in Portland.
The NWH team announced the new expansion on the night of Apashe’s Renaissance II World Tour. As a “soft opening,” no artists performed in the East Annex, but it was open for guests to relax, lounge, and tour the new space.
Their team commented via social media: “The North Warehouse team has been pulling all-nighters this entire week getting this place ready for you all. So much passion has gone into this project; thank you all for supporting this journey.”
The East Annex will be the third stage added onto The North Warehouse grounds and is attached to the East side of the building (the right side if you’re facing the stage). The old warehouse already boasts a massive mainstage complete with a full Funktion One sound system, plus an outdoor stage that often houses local artists and DJs. Now, the ever-growing dance music hub will be able to house three stages of music.
Opened in 2019 by Scott McElroy, the Warehouse understandably struggled in the wake of the pandemic. It would be the summer of 2021–nearly two years later–before they would host any shows. Now with a talented team and plenty of vision, we’re excited to see where The North Warehouse team will go.
