Cascade Equinox Festival returns September 20th-22nd, 2024 in Redmond, Oregon. This cross-genre festival will once again be held at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds, boasting panoramic views of the Cascade Mountains. The unofficial meeting spot, the Ferris wheel in the middle of the festival, is a great way to get your bearings on the layout of the grounds. Attendees were eager to see how the event organizers behind 4 Peaks and Gem & Jam were going to surpass the festival’s inaugural year. Once the lineup dropped, it was clear that Cascade Equinox had eclipsed their maiden voyage.
Cascade Equinox’s lineups showcase a unique and diverse blend of multiple genres. The event is obviously curated by seasoned professionals, it is not an easy feat to mix a roster of bass, funk, jam, soul, bluegrass and more so seamlessly. The diversity of the 2024 headliners, Jungle, CloZee, STS9, Liquid Stranger, and Marc Rebillet speak to these efforts. Jungle, a UK disco and soul dance duo’s “Back on 74,” took TikTok by storm this past year. Marc Rebillet, one of our top sets to see this year, rose to prominence by improvising songs based on viewers’ topic suggestions while streaming, leaving no doubt about his live looping skills. His on-the-fly songs are as catchy as they are comical, gaining him a loving nickname of “Loop Daddy”. French global bass producer and Odyzey Music record label founder CloZee, and the Wakaan label owner and dubstep/space bass producer Liquid Stranger are the perfect king and queen of bass to reign headlining sets. The self-described “post-rock dance music” legends STS9 always stand out for their ability to unify genres into music that is exclusively their own. Alongside Lotus and The Disco Biscuits, STS9 are the godfathers of jamtronica.
Everyone on Cascade Equinox’s bill this year is worth an audience. Deltron 3030 is a legendary hip-hop group consisting of rapper Del the Funky Homosapien and producers Kid Koala and Dan the Automator. Since 2020, they only have two album releases to date, Deltron 3030 and Event 2, yet this supergroup continues to be a hip-hop staple throughout the years. Barclay Crenshaw, popular for his creation of Dirty Bird Records and his project under the alias Claude VonStroke, is a Global dance music visionary. His popular project under his alias Claude VonStroke focused on a more funky house, dirty bass, and electronica elements. Barclay Crenshaw is his real name, which is epic in and of itself, and explores elements of drum & bass, dub, jungle, funk, and hip hop. His 2024 album Open Channel takes you on a journey of his new ventures, featuring multiple collaborations with the same top-tier execution of the production.
Solar Spin, an indoor roller skating rink set in front of live music, is one of the most anticipated new features of Cascade Equinox’s return. The sensation of floating and gliding while listening to grooves is now even more tangible. Luxury motor coaches will be available this year to safely shuttle guests from Bend, OR to Deschutes County Fairgrounds and back with multiple operating times throughout the day.
Melty Migration, a collaboration between PNW’s Summer Meltdown Festival and 4 Peaks, will feature 2 stage takeovers. This grassroots effort featuring some of Summer Meltdown Festival’s cherished acts will have one takeover on the Harvest stage and one Thursday night at the Pre-Funk Party. The second annual ‘Summer Jams’ will be taking place in Bend, Oregon, to promote local and regional music acts ahead of Cascade Equinox. This free event is a collaboration between 4 Peaks Music Festival, Kraft Bar, and LOGE Camps. Local food, brews, and art vendors will be at these events gearing up for the festival in September. In addition to supporting local musicians and artists, this series also offers fee-free tickets to Cascade Equinox.
