Welcome to Empress Energy. From the communal dance floors at the Holocene in East Portland, comes another celebratory house party from the Ibiza Boys. Featuring an all-Portland lineup of cutting-edge DJs and producers, this benefit concert is a night of community movers and shakers. And odds are, if you pass through, you’ll be inclined to do a bit of shaking of your own.
Empress Energy in Portland
Kick your weekend off early on Thursday, February 23 with Empress Energy, a house dance party to benefit Andisheh Center. This Portland-based nonprofit focuses on celebrating and promoting Iranian Culture, heritage, and arts. They hope to promote Iran’s rich artistic and multicultural heritage, engage the younger generation, and cultivate a strong connection to the community at large. Proceeds from the event will go to support the Andisheh Center’s roster of community events, seminars, and festivals.
The local lineup for Empress Energy includes CEA, Qloq, Tourmaline, and Chixy Guap. CEA is a UK-bred, Portland-based DJ with Samewave Radio. Qloq is a glitchy, alternative producer and a previous member of the group Good Feet. Tourmaline is a queer DJ & producer, radio host, and creator. And Chixy Guap a DJ, writer, designer, and surfer based in Portland.
The event is hosted by the Holocene and co-promoted by Ibiza Boys, a local group of Portland curators and event promoters. Since the summer of 2003, Holocene has been hosting touring acts from folk to minimal techno, Portland’s own most exciting musicians, unforgettable dance parties, and all manner of arts and multimedia parties that blur the line between highbrow and down-and-dirty. Holocene’s two main rooms are each equipped with a superb sound system, video projection, lights, and a performance area
