Grammy Nominated band August Burns Red will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with a tour stop in Portland at Roseland Theater on March 4, 2023. Their 20th anniversary is sure to be a big one as they couple their anniversary tour with a new album, Death Below dropping on March 24.
Known for incorporating instrumentals like the cello and violin, August Burns Red is a different type of metalcore. They have toured extensively both nationally and internationally, and their high-energy live performances are a hallmark of their career.
Opening acts include Devil Wears Prada and Bleed From Within. Devil Wears Prada is no rookie to the US tour scene. They are known for their intense live performances and a blend of heavy and melodic metalcore, incorporating intricate guitar work, powerful vocals, and driving rhythms. The Devil Wears Prada’s lineup consists of lead vocalist Mike Hranica, guitarists Jeremy DePoyster and Kyle Sipress, bassist Mason Nagy, and drummer Giuseppe Capolupo.
Also joining the tour is Bleed From Within. This will be the first U.S. tour for the Scottish band. The band started as a death metal outfit but over time they have evolved their sound to incorporate more elements of melodic death metal and metalcore. The band’s lineup consists of lead vocalist Scott Kennedy, drummer Ali Richardson, guitarists Craig Gowans and Steven Jones, and bassist Davie Provan.
August Burns Red in Portland
While the performances will be grand, the venue deserves an honorable mention as well. Portland’s Roseland Theater is known for its acoustics. The proscenium arch lends itself to great visuals, allowing for the use of scenic elements like curtains, backdrops, and lighting.
